By combining innovative design and utilizing aluminium’s properties, media company Bloomberg’s office in London combines the highest standards of sustainability, and secures well-being for the people in it.
The ceiling has a multi-functional solution with aluminium, where ceiling panels incorporate 500,000 LED lights and combine heating, cooling, lighting and acoustic functions.
Since aluminium is highly reflective, the metal multiplies the light and also helps in climatization, as it conducts heat well.
The system uses 40 percent less energy than a typical fluorescent office lighting system.
The highest design-stage score ever
The building achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating under the BREEAM sustainability assessment method, with a score of 98.5 percent. This is the highest design-stage score ever achieved by any major office development.
The design was a collaboration between SAS International and Foster + Partners whose lead architect, world-renowned Lord Norman Foster, had conceived the entire building concept with company founder Michael Bloomberg.
