What is aluminium shate – and where should you use it

Aluminium shate products are rolled aluminium products in the crossover area between sheet and plate.

When you think about it, the name makes good sense. Shate products are rolled aluminium products in the crossover area between sheet and plate.

Aluminium shate are heavy gauge products up to a thickness of 12 mm, and width up to 2500 mm. Typical alloys are 5083, 5086, 5454, 5754 and 5186.

We developed these products to meet customer demand for specific applications in:

– Heavy goods vehicles, such as road tankers, dry bulk transporters and tipper bodies
– Silo and storage tank constructions
Ship and yacht building

We tailor the thickness of the shate products, as well as their width, and supply them mainly in sheets, according to the application desired. Because the best product for truck walls or bodies may be different than the ones used for the silo containing granulates or chemicals, or for hull constructions.

Each aluminium shate product delivers the properties important to the application:

– Light weight
– Corrosion resistance
– Elongation
– Formability/bending
– Weldability

Absolute 90's! Our young, energetic engineers ‍♂️ studying a 3D-simulated image of an extruded aluminium profile in 1995, to innovate the production of high-quality aluminium. As pure as it gets. The liquid aluminium in this shot is 99.999 per cent pure - and will make its way from our High Purity unit in Grevenbroich to the high-tech industry. Eventually, it will end up in an electronic device, such as your next computer or smartphone 1 likes

Did you think your hair was thin? The thinnest aluminium we produce is actually 1/10 strand of a hair. The aluminium in such rolled coils is completely impermeable, and lets neither light, aroma nor taste substances in or out – perfect on the inside of juice or milk cartons.
