Keep it fresh – with aluminium

Ultra-thin aluminium foil protects food and beverages like no other material can.

It’s light, it’s air-tight, it’s thin – and it keeps your food and drinks safe and fresh. Yes, it’s our aluminium for packaging.

A little bit of aluminium goes a long way. Just one 25-kg block of our aluminium can be used to produce enough ultra-thin aluminium foil for packaging to protect the contents of 19,000 one-liter containers.

We are the world’s leading supplier of light-gauge aluminium foil for liquid aseptic packaging down to 6.0 µm and widths up to 2,020 mm and are a partner to leading customers in the packaging Industry, including Tetra Pak, Amcor and SIG.

Fresh food packaging

With its excellent barrier and sealing properties, aluminium foil creates the highest quality aseptic packaging material for beverages, soups and dehydrated food, keeping foodstuffs fresh for months without refrigeration – even milk and juices.

Aluminium foil keeps foodstuffs fresh for months without refrigeration – even milk and juices. That’s refreshing to know.

This long-term protection means that food and drinks are less perishable, and so less likely thrown away due to spoilage. The foil imparts no taste to the contents, and in fact, it prevents the contents from losing nutritional value, vitamins or aroma.

And with this lightweight packaging, it takes less fuel to deliver products to the consumer. This saves money and lowers emissions from transport.

That’s refreshing to know.

Our ultra-thin aluminium foil for packaging keeps light and air out, and freshness in.

Recycling for the future ♻️. Our recycling plant in Clervaux has a production capacity of 105,000 tonnes aluminium per year. With a recent significant upgrade, the plant can now take in more post-consumed scrap and boost volumes, yet lower energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. #aluminiumbyhydro #recyling 5 likes

With great power, comes great responsibility. Worldwide , about two-thirds of our aluminium production is powered by renewable energy ☘️Our goal is to base as much production as possible on renewable and climate-friendly energy sources ♻️. Where hydroelectric power is not available, we try to use energy sources having the least negative effect on the climate. 7 likes

Soon, the world’s greenest aluminium will be produced at our technology pilot in Karmøy, Norway. That’s something we’re proud of, and so is the Norwegian Prime Minister @erna_solberg who inaugurated the plant yesterday. #Karmoypilot #aluminiumbyhydro 12 likes

Aluminium's flexibility, strength and light weight are some of the qualities that make it attractive in so many different applications . But for aluminum to be a strong construction material, it needs to be mixed with small amounts of other metals. When mixed in appropriate portions, aluminium’s strength can equal that of steel, yet its weight is still only one-third of the weight of steel. #aluminiumbyhydro 0 likes
